I am present you with the ....drumroll please.... Park the Phone! I was inspired by my friend, Alex sharing a frustrating experience with their apartment's blazing fire alarm interrupting his usual 8 hour sleep cycle at 5:30 in the morning. Alex explained that after coming back inside, he tried to go back to sleep for the remaining 2 hours. Yet, sadly he was unsuccessful. He mentioned that he had brought his phone with him outsideand decided to continue using it after getting back in bed.

After a few questions and answers back an forth, I came to the question of, "How can I help Alex stop sending time for sleep on his phone?"

Once I knew that the problem was the phone, the easiest solution that can be done within a day came to me- to simply place the phone as far awayyy as possible from the bed. Allocating a specific spot in the room - far from reach from the bed - for "parking" the phone during sleep time.

Research has shown that visual and audio stimulus from a screen can make it soo much harder and longer for one to ultimately fall asleep. Instead of messing around with phone lock features on certain apps -like TikTok- that can easily be adjusted/delayed in the settings, it will work the best if the phone is not picked up but "parked" in the first place.

This parked position can be a great way to also charge your phone. By placing the sticker near a charging station, it can be a reminder to not only set your alarms but also have a full battery for a new day.

The reason why I presented this idea in a sticker medium is because I wanted to highlight the importance of allocating a specific - unchanged - determined spot for placing your phone every night. If there is not a designated area but a mere range of locations, it can be hard to condition yourself to the idea of doing so each night. This way by seeing this sticker (sized for a phone) you are reminded each night to leave your phone in that location-- ultimately making it a habit.

I chose this design and name for the concept because I believe the concept is eye-catching and a nice playful reference that would attract people and want to place this sticker on their desks/living area.
